A Look Ahead
As we reflect on 2008, it gives us great pleasure to proudly look back on the Association’s accomplishments and to the contributions that each of our Members have made to our success…it certainly has been a year filled with change and growth for the HHRPA!
From the outset of 2008, our focus has been on what matters most to our Members – addressing initiatives that will advance the HR profession, promote innovative hospitality strategies and enhance organizational performance. The rollout of our first ever HHRPA Resource Network Fair, the 2008 Conference in association with Cornell University and the recent Members/ Housekeepers meeting are just a few examples of initiatives that helped drive success in 2008.
As we look forward to 2009, we enter a year of economic uncertainty for our Industry yet we are very confident that with the strength of our Association, we can continue to work as a cohesive unit to better understand and address HR issues affecting Toronto’s hospitality industry. February 2009 HHRPA Members Meetings
Thank you to all those who participated in our February Members Meeting, which focused on discussion and brainstorming around overcoming the challenges many of us are facing with WSIB, especially in this year of heightened cost-awareness given the current economic uncertainty in our industry. This interactive meeting included a panel of guests from WSIB, the OSSA and Hicks Morley LLP, and focused on WSIB-related topics such as improving the ESRTW process, medical notes and related documents, and understanding the employer’s duty to accommodate. We are happy to share the following presentation material that was distributed during this meeting:

Daily Bread Food Bank
In consideration of today’s economic landscape, the decision was made to not hold our usual year-end social event in January 2009. Instead, we were please to support our community by making a monetary donation on behalf of the HHRPA to the Daily Bread Food Bank, which enables Daily Bread to purchase and deliver food to those in need.
