2008 HHRPA Salary Survey

Jobchart International Inc. will once again be facilitating the Association’s annual salary survey. Members received an email on June 1, 2008, requesting your participation by June 30, 2008. The survey will then be completed by July 31, 2008, and forwarded to participating companies. Cost per participant is the same as 2007 at only $165.00 plus GST.

2008 HHRPA Resource Network Fair

Thank you to all those who participated in the first ever HHRPA Resource Network Fair that was designed to connect HHRPA members with a variety of valuable services, agencies and resources that support attraction, recruitment and retention efforts. It was a great success and we look forward to brining you a bigger and better Fair in 2009! An extra special thank you to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre for all their efforts in hosting such a wonderful event.

HHRPA Board of Directors Elections

Following the departures of both Kim Gilliard and Cris Roshko from the Toronto hospitality market and subsequently the HHRPA, the Association has made the decision to hold the 2008 elections earlier than the originally planned date of June 2008. As a result, the Board of Directors is looking for members to nominate fellow DHR members who have an interest and who are committed to serving a two-year term. To submit a nomination, simply complete this Nomination Form and send it by 5:00 PM on January 25, 2008, to the attention of Ani Cappiello via ani.cappiello@hhrpa.org or fax at (416) 961-2391. Kim Gilliard Steps Down as HHRPA President

The HHRPA would like to congratulate HHRPA President Kim Gilliard on her acceptance of a new position within Starwood Hotels and Resorts as Regional Director of Human Resources, North East and Eastern Canada region, which will be based out of Boston effective September 17, 2007. As a result, Kim will be relinquishing her Presidency of the HHRPA effective September 17, 2007, and Cris Roshko, VP of Membership, has been selected by the Board to serve as the interim-President until the end of the current Presidential term. We would like to thank Kim for her valuable and lasting contributions to the Association and let her know that she will be missed tremendously. Her outstanding commitment and dedication through the years has helped the HHRPA become Toronto’s leading Association of hospitality HR professionals.

The HHRPA is very excited to announce the launch of the new and improved HHRPA website. Association members now benefit from easy access to an extensive online database of valuable HR information, an easy-to-use distribution list that instantly connects you with more than 65 member companies in the GTA, and simplified access to GTA hospitality employment opportunities and collective agreements. We would like to thank our members for their valuable suggestions as we worked through the development of the new website. 2007 HHRPA Salary Survey

Beginning in July, Jobchart International Inc. once again started the facilitation of the Association’s annual salary survey. Taking into consideration the valuable feedback from our members, Jobchart has added numerous positions to this year’s survey and made various adjustments where appropriate. Although we were not able to implement all suggestions, we will continue to review the survey makeup on an annual basis.
